Principal/Mission
Welcome to Ray Marsh Elementary, home of the Cougars. Our mission is to ensure high levels of learning for all! Our staff is committed to professional learning for continuous improvement as we work to answer four questions:
- What do we expect our students to learn?
- How will we know they are learning?
- How will we respond when students don’t learn it the first time?
- How will we respond when students already know it?
Our school is named after Raymond B. Marsh, Superintendent of Schools in Shawnee until 1969. In 1969, all area schools were unified under the name “Shawnee Mission School District #512.” Mr. Marsh continued to work with the new district in the personnel department until his retirement.
Ray Marsh is a fantastic school in which students are taught to be responsible for their actions and strive to make progress towards attainable goals. Our teachers are dedicated to teaching district curriculum, adjusting instruction to the needs of individual students, and dedicated in providing the best possible opportunities for students to learn. Parents are expected to support their child(ren) in their endeavors and to carry on our three core values of education, “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe,” outside of Ray Marsh.
As principal of Ray Marsh, and on behalf of those who call Ray Marsh home, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our Cougarific Team. I wish you and your child much success in the coming school year, and ask that you please contact us with any questions.
